Business Tax Extension Form 7004
If you need more time to organize all the documents required for a tax return, you can file for an automatic tax extension of 5-6 months by filing an IRS Form 7004. The form 7004 must be filed within the business tax deadline of March 17, 2014

The IRS typically grants automatic extensions of five (5) or six (6) months, depending on the return for which the extension is filed.

Who must File Form 7004?
Depending on the type of business you are filing for, you may qualify for an automatic extension of 5 or 6 months. The form 7004 can be used by:
- Multi-Member LLCs
- Trusts and Estates
- Certain Partnerships
Trust and Estates are only able to apply for a 5 month tax extension this is determined by which tax form they would be filing for their return.
